I know we all kind of posted them on another board, but I think we should OFFICIALLY dedicate a thread to all the times we saw something totally unrelated, and thought, THAT'S LIKE THE TIME IN NEWSIES WHEN....
This is mine for today!:
I watched Spamalot tonight, and it was freakin' awesome ^-^ I love Monty Python and I've had the Spamalot CD for quite a while too. They reference a lot of famous musicals like Phantom, Les Mis, Fiddler on the Roof, Singin' In the Rain, etc. ANYWAY. There was one point in a song when they sing, "You may have dramatic lighting, or lots of horrid fighting," and on "fighting" a bunch of guys come in fencing with wooden sticks. Being me, I was all, "IT'S THE RETURN OF BUMLETS AND SKITTERYYY" until I realized that neither of them would dress up in bright green medieval costume. Maybe pink. But not green.
That said, I've just discovered all these snazzy html tags. Ooh! Snazzy.

Ooh! Lucky! Tim Curry is kind of UBER pwnage. And I LOVE Christian Borle. Huge fan of his. Prince Herbert is definitely my favorite character.
BUT WE SHAN'T GO OFF TOPIC. I'll come back with one:
Today I went to my callbacks for Urinetown, and there was a girl with an injured ankle, so she had crutches. When we were doing out readings, the person next to me said, "Ahh...the obligatory crippled person..." and I said, "Yeah! Like Crutchy! Have you seen Newsies?" but I don't think she heard me, because she didn't answer. Awwww.

Uh ya I see Jack in that, in fact I think the balloon was modeled after him!
Um so I don't know if this counts or not, but I was watching Wizards of Waverly Place on Disney Channel (yeah I watch disney shows, they're no Monkees, but they do) And there's this group of guys that always hang out together in the hallways, and they're all tough, and the leader has kinda long brown, Jack hair, and every time I see them I randomly think Newsies!

I have twoo for today! One was a spasm I had over the weekend, but recently I was really busy with work. I was at Tim Horton's, it's really big in Canada for coffee and donuts - not sure about the US - and while I was waiting for my friend to buy her coffee, I started reading the donut names. And one is the Dutchie. I have no idea what it tastes like, but I was highly amused nonetheless. Mmmm, a Dutchy.......xDD And, the other one happened just 30 minutes ago, and involves my other dancin'-boy musical love: Billy Elliot the musical! Take a look at the fourth picture from the bottom: www.broadwayworld.com/viewcolumn.cfm?colid=34435I have it saved on my computer as "David...NEWSIE JUMP!" C: just stick a pape in his hand! (Btw. On a different note, I am very excited for it now as I was previously under the impression that BETM on B'way was going to deviate greatly from the original production...but it looks fantastic here, can't wait for an opportunity to go see it ^-^ !!!)

Niiicce pic!
Speaking of Dutchy: I was watching the-n hoping something amazing would come on (which usually happens while watching the-n). Degrassi came on. Now, I don't actually follow the show, but I've seen a few episodes, like enough to know some charecters names and their cliques and stuff. Anyway, I went to 'info' to see what the episode was about and the episode was called 'Pass the Dutchie'. Spelled wrong, but I had forgotten how to spell Dutchy at the time anyway! (Spelling & Dutchy. How ironic.) So I was happy. But...the episode was about one of the students who got cancer and started doing marijuana. So Dutchie/Dutchy = marijuana? Idkk...Maybe there's a different meaning to our fluffy blondie's name!

I was walking on Bloor Street the other day and there's a glasses place named "SPECS ON BLOOR."
I had to bite my scarf to keep from laughing.

I don't own a scarf, so I'd be laughing like a freak.

Mann. I swear I have TOO many Newsie spasms!
Last week in film I watched what has instantly become my favorite foreign film: Lola Rennt, or as it's known in English, Run Lola Run. It's a chaotic bombardment of colour and energy, with a suspenseful storyline and interesting characters to boot. Anyway, there's one point when one of the main characters is standing outside a supermarket, and this guy with blonde hair walks in. My only thought during that shot apart from "Nooooo Manni don't rob the store!" was "Hey, that guy has an Ivan Dudynsky haircut." Well, it WAS filmed in 1998, so some of that style still lingered...
Speaking of which, you know you're just way too into Newsies/Roundhouse when you look at a '94 photo of Nick Carter and think "HE'S GOT IVAN HAIR!"...instead of the other way around.

I was watchin Johnny Bravo, and he said, "I am reminded of the words of Horace Greeley...". I knew there was some reason I like that show.
